FAQ

What are you doing?
Typing a blog on a dell netbook, with a keyboard that is so small I can barely get through a sentence without making a typo. If you want the "bigger picture" I am living in Blacksburg, Va where I am an ECE graduate student at Virginia Tech working under the Wireless@VT research group.

So how long have you been in school...?
3 Years of preschool, 1 year of kindergarten, 5 years of elementary school, 3 years of middle school, 4 years of high school, 4 years of undergraduate and <1 year of graduate school. That adds up to 18-19 years of school. By contrast, I am 23 years old (as of 2009) so at this point school is pretty much all I am good at.

Why are you writing a blog?
It gives me something to do that isn't homework, and though I will probably write a good bit about what is going on in school, this blog will mostly be devoted to random thoughts I have about random things. It will also serve as a useful tool for the FBI, should they ever want to build a psychological profile of me.

So I was told there would be no math...
That isn't a question. It is also somewhat of a lie. Or at least a half truth. Engineering is mostly math with pictures, so some dorky math stuff will probably appear from time to time. The title of this blog is actually related to something they told us at orientation. It was along the lines of "You are graduate students now and you are here to do research. It is not just about classes...It's not just about math any more." I found that humorous and a good title for a blog about my experiences as a graduate student.

Do you have a dog?
Yes, his name is Socrates. Here is a picture of him wearing a tie:

When will you be in Baltimore next?
Since I have school and a job in Blacksburg the most likely answer is "not any time soon." However, I do normally return for the "big two" holidays: thanksgiving and christmas. I will probably stay around for New Years too, unless there is nothing going on. Other than that, my visits are mostly random and unplanned.

Can I come visit you in Blacksburg
Yes, we have plenty of couch and floor space.

Will you marry me?
No, but I am accepting "sugar mama" applications. If you would like to apply, figure out my email address and send me some head shots, as well as a screen shot of your bank account balance.
